Harold Riley has had a love for soccer since his schooldays, when he played for the Manchester United juniors team. He also played and received his colours for the University of London team and captained the army team during his National Service. Manchester United have a collection of his paintings which hang at Old Trafford. The club have always provided him with the facility to work on the touchline during matches, enabling him to create a considerable archive of football paintings and studies. He was a close friend of the late Sir Matt Busby and gave the eulogy at his funeral. |
