The earliest known religious image by Harold Riley is an engraving made for his mother when he was around eight years old. It is included in the little book “Seven Prayers for Our Lady” accompanying seven drawings made whilst the artist was a student in different parts of Europe. The son of a Church of England father and a mother who was a Roman Catholic, Harold Riley was brought up within the Christian faith. He attended a great variety of schools, from a Catholic Convent to an Interdenominational Grammar school where he mixed with fellow school boys who were from every religion. He is married to a Muslim wife and together they share a mutual love of God. His religious works range from pictures on the walls of churches to paintings and drawings in private collections all over the world. |
