As a student at the Slade School, Harold Riley was taught lithography and etching by a number of the most eminent artists of the day. He has always found graphics to be a highly motivating part of his work. The range of his prints, both in subject and media, is considerably diverse. Earlier forms of traditional etching from copper plates and lithography from etched stones have been replaced by printing which ranges from the latest laser systems to polymer prints and permanent hand-made photocopies. The graphics have always been in limited editions, mostly signed and rarely more than 25 in an edition. Monographs and low-number editions are invariably finished with hand work on the print surface. |
